6 insanely productive habits for highly successful people

Getting things done sometimes feels like an extreme sport, especially when there’s a lot of work to be done but so little time. It gets insanely tricky trying to balance everything, and that overwhelming feeling starts creeping in as you question your productive habits.

It gets worse when you notice a colleague or a friend manage to accomplish all their tasks while you are still struggling with yours. Productivity has always seemed like a tough nut to crack, but it’s not the case. You can also be productive and manage to get everything done through these tips.

Tip 1: Journal your goals

Saying this is important is a massive understatement as it is one of the fundamentals of having productive habits.

Writing your goals down helps you see what you are aiming for. You can create a vision board and place it where you sleep or at your workplace. Every time you glance at it, you will be motivated to grind to achieve.

You can also choose to journal and write them down. Personally, I journal my goals every month. I realized working with monthly goes has helped me build productive habits over time. My productivity has shot up since the goals are achievable and don’t seem overwhelming.

I always have monthly goals that I have subdivided to weekly goals. Every week I plan activities that I should do every day that will, in one way or another, help me hit my monthly targets. I have found that this works perfectly for me, and I can easily track my goals.

Tip 2: Plan your days

Planning your day is important if you want to develop productive habits. It only takes roughly 15-20 minutes to plan your day the night before, but the effect it has is humungous.

You will know exactly what to do when you wake up, and your productivity will build up with time. In the process, you’ll also develop time management skills as you learn how to plan yourself.

This simple task that takes only 15 minutes goes a long way in helping you get things done.

Tip 3: Prioritize your health.

To have productive habits, you need to have a healthy body. It is crucial to take care of yourself mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

DO NOT overwork yourself. If you develop good time management skills, your productivity will build up with time. However, if you do not take care of your health, you will not be able to work.

Over time I have come to realize that although there are other vital things in life, nothing beats having good health. Schedule some time to exercise and meditate for your physical health. I’ve also realized exercising also helps to calm your mind and help with mental and emotional health.

Tip 4: Reduce interruptions.

Interruptions always break down our productivity. Whenever you get distracted when doing something, you lose your concentration and lose the flow of work.

You can minimize interruptions by putting your phone on silent or tell someone you’ll get back to them if they ask for a minute at work. If you work from home, you can designate a specific working area where everyone in the house has to know that they should not disturb you.

I have a room at home, and whenever I’m there, nobody, not even the kids, talks to me until I’m out. Consistently doing this has helped me build up my productive habits.

Tip 5: Even when it’s scary, take action.

Sometimes it seems so hard and scary to accomplish something, we’ve all been there, but you’ll never know until you try.

What are the consequences of putting something off for too long? Once you know something is right to do, don’t wait anymore because these things are critical. You need to do some things for yourself in your life. There are some things that only you can do, and if you don’t do them, things may not turn out so good. It is not a must you feel confident to be self-confident, you just take action and say I am confident.

Take positive, productive actions every day, and in the process, you will develop your productive habits.

Tip 6: Take breaks

It’s important to relax after a tiring working session. Your body needs to relax and replenish as it will also go a long way in maintaining your mental health.

I have divided my time such that after every two hours, I go for a break to just relax and unwind. Working might be stressful, especially if you’re working on some pretty hard tasks, but if you relax, you can start the next job on a fresh mind.
